It seems as though the market here in the Durham Region has cruised into the traditional ‘quiet summer’ phase that we are accustomed to seeing in the housing market.
July of this year saw a 6% increase in transactions over the same period as 2017 but we are down 13.5% for real estate transactions from just last month. With many families taking holidays and enjoying a stellar summer, this does not come as a surprise.
Durham reached an average selling price of $584,131 in July which was actually a 4.35% decrease in selling price of just last month. However, the market has increased in sales price by 2.52% over July of 2017, which is encouraging.
Regardless of how you view the statistics, the Durham Region is still a desirable option for those looking in the GTA. Durham remains relatively affordable while simultaneously offering so many amenities that young families are looking for.
